You work all night, you work all day. You still can't keep those worry blues away

No matter how long it had been, this time of year was always difficult for Bridge. Even with all the blessings and good things in his life, the anniversary of his father's death always left him feeling a bit melancholy, though some days leading up to the day were better than others.

This particular day wasn't the worse he'd felt, but he still gone to take some time for himself, wandering around Duckburg on his own and letting himself get lost in the empty feeling as he walked with no destination in mind, which somehow brought him to the park.

He nodded, turning the harmonica over a bit in his hands. "For a while, it was just me and my dad, y'know? But when I was growing up, he was working a lot. So I learned to do things around the house to make things easier for him."

"You know, that's kinda how it was with me and Uncle Matt. Even when he was in the Rock, he was often exploring other tunnels and I didn't always go with him, so I was left on my own a lot. And then there was when he left to go to Outer Space, too. I already knew the others by that point so I was never alone alone, but I still had to learn to do a lot around the caves because Matt was gone on some expedition or another."

He nodded a bit, looking at the harmonica in his hands. "Does he still go exploring?"

"Yeah, which is alright with me." He snorted through his nose. "Don't get me wrong, I love Uncle Matt to death but we definitely get along better from either side of a postcard."

He snickered a little. "Well, I'm glad you still get to see him sometimes, at least."

[gobetween]

"I guess so, yeah. 'Course, now I'm rarely at the Rock..."

He started playing a bit of a softer tune, some definite song now. "It's not so bad, though. I've made plenty of new friends, like you. And I still get to go back whenever I can manage it."

He nodded. "I know. I can't really say I'm unhappy with how my life is now. It's just...still hard sometimes."

He nodded as well. "Yeah, it's... not easy, is it."

"Yeah...but I guess it's always gonna be a little hard. If losing people was easy, it just means you never really cared in the first place."
