Let's get a little day drunk

Scrooge crossed the grass with a rather decided march, though careful of the cargo he carried. Rather longer than he would've liked- even though it was only a few minutes of a walk at the most -he descended down the steps and to the cottage-looking door that'd been set in a hill, open to the sky. This was the ground-access passage to the Fraggle home beneath Duckburg, and it was on this door he pounded his spare fist twice. While he waited, what he held in his other hand giggled twice, and Scrooge rolled his eyes.

"I'm sure they did." He drained the rest of the water and handed the glass over, then eeaaaased himself back down. "I'm just gonna... lie down a while more, 'kay Wembley?"

"Okay, then, I'll go let Boober know how you're doing," Wembley signed, before he rose to his feet and headed for the door. A pause, then, and three (relatively) quick signs - "I love you."

He glanced up, then smiled and shifted enough so he could return the same signs, "I love you," adding a blown kiss to the end of it.

However, once Wembley was out of the room, he buried himself into his pillows with a miserable, sustained groan.

As soon as the door was closed behind him, Wembley let out a massive sigh of relief, and proceeded to squeet and squat his way down the hall and into the kitchen. Once there, he came up behind Boober - still scatsinging - and hugged him snugly.

"He's awake."

He was indeed in the kitchen, putting together a lunch for the three of them. When Wembley came, he smiled and rested a hand on his outer cheek, holding him close and leaning in for a moment.

"Good. How is he feeling?"

"Oh, not so good, but no worse than you said he'd be... I don't think," Wembley explained, stepping back and leaning around to get a look at what lunch would be. "He said he won't do that again, too. He even took the Oath."

[scaredsilly]

"The Oath, huh?" Separating out the sandwiches he'd made, he handed a plate up to Wembley. "It's good to see he's finally taking this seriously. He was quite the giggly Fraggle last night."

[forachange]

"Thanks," Wembley said, taking the plate. Ooh, it looked good, too... Boober must have followed a recipe. "I know. I'm glad he's taking it seriously, too, and I think he's really learned a lesson," he stated around a mouthful of sandwich.

[scaredsilly]

He scoffed slightly and waved a hand. "At least eat at the table, Wembley. You won't get crumbs, or soup," he added as he lifted a bowl, "everywhere and we can keep an eye on the hallway in case Gobo calls." The admonishment was mostly feigned of course, with a smile hidden behind it, as he took his own lunch to the mentioned spot. "I certainly hope he's learned a lesson. And if he didn't, making it up to Uncle Scrooge will help with the rest of that."

Wembley chuckled. "Okay, okay, the table," he said, following Boober and taking a seat. "Oh... Oh, gosh, yeah. How are we going to make it up to Uncle Scrooge?"

After all, their jobs were already working for Uncle Scrooge with the garden...

"No, Wembley. Not 'we.' 'He.' This is completely in Gobo's hands, as much as we might want to help."

He spent a few moments with his food, then glanced up at a strange sound, watching the hallway curiously.

The sound was of blankets dragging and of someone not lifting their feet to walk. Gobo- or a bundle with feet and a limp tail, rather -moved through the hallway without comment. He walked inside the bathroom, tuuurrrnnned so his trail was wound in with him because pulling was too much effort, and then shhhhhhut the door. There.

A spray of soup went across the table as Wembley snorted into his spoon. "Oh gosh, Boober, I really hope that's normal because it was so funny!" he laughed, coughing a bit as he did so.

He handed over a napkin and after a moment, laughed some himself, in his own sharp little way.

"At least we know he's up and around, right? After a fashion."

[forachange]

"Yup!" Wembley chirped, wiping up the mess he'd made. "He's gonna be just fine, I bet. What kind of soup is this?"

[scaredsilly]

"Just a simple vegetable broth. I made it for Gobo because I figured he'd want something easy to eat and easy on the stomach, and then I decided to make enough for the two of us, too."

[forachange]

"Well, that was thoughtful of you - and I like it a lot!" Wembley added. "Boober, you've been good at all this kind of taking care of Fraggles stuff since I've known you... How'd you learn it all?"

[scaredsilly]

"Reading books, mostly. All the best books about disease and contagion also include how to fight it, and what to do when someone comes down ill. Everything else has been experience."

[forachange]

Wembley nodded. "All those books sure come in handy in times like this," he noted. Wembley, for his part, could never settle on a book to start reading. "I told Gobo this already, but I sure feel lucky you were there yesterday."

He glanced at Wembley, pleased but embarrassed, and looked down at his bowl.

"Well I..." Little scoffed sound. "I only did what I know how to do best."

Hearing the shuffling sound from before approach them, he looked up as The Blanket Formerly Known As Gobo walked into the room.

"I hope you washed your hands."

Boober gets a rather withering stare from inside the "hood" of the blanket, as he nodded dimly and, laboriously, took a seat at the table. Once Boober placed the bowl in front of him, one enshrouded hand reached out and puuullllled it closer, to where he could slowly sup it up.

Wembley giggled, raising his hands for a moment, then lowering them when he realized he wasn't sure Gobo had much in the way of peripheral vision, the way he was wearing that blanket. So, instead, he spoke as gently as he could manage. "This is... Actually kind of nice, guys - I mean, you know, we don't really spend that much time together just us three."

He'd thought about it a moment, how to eat the soup, and eventually settled for very gently, very slowly sipping it straight from the bowl, chin resting at the edge. Snouts really come in handy, you know?

At Wembley's remark he doesn't say anything, though he does make a thumbs-up of approval.

Wembley smiled and nodded. "Yeah, exactly. I mean, sure, it might be better if Gobo wasn't sick and stuff. But then it also might not even be happening, so..." He trailed off with a shrug.
