When it's nice and bright, and it brings delight, let your heart choose right

Scrooge huffed as he wandered through the garden, picking up another scattered leaf. This went into a basket he was carrying, which was already full of torn and chewed stems, roots divorced from their vegetables, and other torn leaves left behind. Spotting something in the soil, he bent to examine a clear print left among the other, more smudged ones he had been seeing.

"Ah-hah. I had a feeling." Standing back up with some effort, he resumed his cleaning. "Goin' to have to set some bigger traps..." And other such mutterings under his breath, most not repeatable in this post made for the reading of mixed company.

She breathed in sharply at that quick sight - that didn't quite seem to be some animal. Plus, it hadn't come out like someone's pet would, or run away like a wild critter might.

Oh, she didn't like this. She shuffled back without correcting her posture, watching the spot where she'd seen the eyes - were the eyes? She knew well not to make any sudden movement, here.

She seemed nervous. He hadn't quite intended that. He'd just wanted to watch her for a while, try to learn something about her, and now he'd frightened her. He thought for a moment, unsure himself about just walking out, then- Aha! Idea!

A bit of the bush rustled again (if only because his elbow hit it) and then Lexi will hear a few singing notes of a harmonica sift their way out through the leaves.

Well, that was certainly something she'd heard recently. Lexi blinked, both surprised and confused by the notion that Gobo had come back already... And why was he out here, following her, instead of in the garden?

She scooted closer to the bush, and nearly flattened herself against the sidewalk to try and catch a peak...

The last notes of the harmonica trailed off as she came closer. As she got closer, she'd see pink fur flash in between the leaves- Gobo's tail as he moved himself -and then, when she got down, so did he. He rested his chin on the ground and looked at her from underneath the bush, in that bit of space between ground and the first leaves. A pause, then a faint wave.

Despite being on the ground, which was gross and doubtlessly looked insane to anyone who might drive by and take notice, Lexi smiled as she returned the wave.

"Hi, Gobo. I didn't think I'd see you again - not so soon, anyway."

He laughed some, shifting a bit back and forth in what seemed to be a "Well, you know..." sort of way. His face disappeared a moment, but that was just so he could stand up and find his way toward her. Seeing her properly got a better wave, and then he gestured down the sidewalk. Looked like she was on a walk before, felt like continuing it?

Lexi watched him carefully, even as she got to her feet. He wanted to walk with her?

"Let's go," she agreed, starting down the sidewalk - slowly, since Gobo was a little guy. "So, you've been around the Manor for a couple of days, huh?"

He nodded again, easily falling in step alongside her. And though they walked together, occasionally he'd hop forward every now and again with both feet, seemingly just for the pleasure of doing so.

Looking up at Lexi, he pointed two fingers at his eyes, then at her, and lastly lightly tapped the fingertips over his chest. She was nice to him, so he wanted to know more about her. Even if that did involve some mild stalking, not that he saw it that way.

Lexi snickered at that admission - of sorts - and shrugged.

"I see. Well, I'm pretty curious about you, too, Gobo. I'm going to get some food, we could always talk over that- Well, you know... Maybe not exactly talk," she added with another laugh.

He snorted softly, with a light eyeroll. Yeah, the language barrier would have to be overcome, wouldn't it? He didn't expect this, it hadn't really happened before. The last time he talked to a Silly Creature, he was perfectly understood. 'Course, there might've been some extenuating circumstances there...

"Yeah, exactly," Lexi agreed. "But it's not like I have no idea what you're saying, and you mostly understand me, right?"

A long sigh through his nose and he nodded up at her. Yeah, he understood her. At least there was that much.

She nodded in return. "Well, since you can, and since I'm apparently interesting enough to you for you to stalk me... I guess that's where we'll start - with me telling you about myself. Sound good?"

Gobo looked up at her, then smiled and nodded eagerly. Sure! That was exactly what he wanted. She was so unlike any other Silly Creature (or hairy monster) he'd met so far, and his curiosity was what had him coming back to the Manor again and again.

Lexi smiled, glancing away for a moment. Okay, so she'd kind of put herself on the spot, she was realizing... But hey, she could handle it. It was talking, it was where she shined.

...Except this was talking about herself, and that was only so much of an interesting topic.

"Okay! Well, I'm actually not from around here - I've always spent a lot of time here, but I only started living with Unca Scrooge last year. I- Hey, do Fraggles have jobs?"

Already interested, he perked up that much more at the mention that she'd come from somewhere else. At the question of jobs he nodded, then held up a Wait finger and went into his pockets. Pulling out a folded piece of parchment, he opened it to show it was a map. Two signs followed- one of "walking" on the map, and another miming drawing. Tapping it, he then jabbed his thumb at himself.

"So, you map out new places?" Lexi asked with a smile. "That's not exactly my thing, but I've always been around people who love adventures, so..." she trailed off with a shrug. "Anyway, I came here to find what I want to do for a job."

There was, of course, more to it than that. As she'd grown up, she'd felt increasingly more understood and comfortable here in the "Other" Duckburg. It wasn't that things back where she'd come from had been bad, either, but... Something about here just seemed to work better for her.

"I haven't figured it out yet, though," she said, and though she didn't want to load all her recent struggles onto a fuzzy little stranger, she couldn't keep the sigh out of her voice.

Gobo did hear that sigh, looking up at her. For a moment the map shifted a little closer to himself, then he lightly touched his hand to hers, leaning a little. There was understanding in that expression, as he watched her.

That gentle gesture made her smile, but it was a sad one. The way he was looking up at her felt like an invitation to go on, so with a sigh, she did. "I spent most of my life knowing exactly what I wanted to do in that way, but then I didn't know who I was. Now I've got more of a handle on that, but knowing what I want to do? I'm not sure anymore. It's hard, you know?"

She shook her head and sighed. "You probably don't. I mean, you just told me, you're an explorer. You do know what you're doing."

His eyes drifted down and to the side, and he sighed after a moment. Stepping ahead, he stopped in front of her and held his hands up, so she would stop too. Gobo reached into another pocket and pulled out a small stack of what seemed to be postcards. These he held up, fingers pointing at the signature until she read it out loud: "Your uncle, Travelling Matt." Glimpsing at the rest will give Lexi the context of the card seeming to be an adventure; and more, as Gobo went from card to card to card... Lowering them so they were facing him now, he shook his head and sighed. Card, to card, to card...

Then, putting away all but one card, he took the map out again and unfolded it. Looked from the map, to the card, then hugged them both to himself, and dropped his arms. With a- genuine -sigh he waved the card to indicate himself, and then at the map, almost angrily so. His expression shifted, forlorn almost, and he turned to toss the map away. His now-emptied hand sank slowly as he watched it, and though he did go to retrieve it as he tucked the postcard away again, the complicated pantomime routine was still clear.

It didn't take Lexi too long to pick up on what he was trying to say, and once she did, keeping up was even easier. So Gobo had gone into exploration because of his Uncle...? It hadn't been his choice, just where he'd ended up. He'd had his doubts, it would seem - even still did, as to whether or not he was living up to the work of those before him.

"I'm sorry, man," she said quietly. She knew what it was like - feeling like she wasn't good enough to do what was expected of her. Feeling conflicted about if she wanted to do what was expected of her.

He stood up, carefully folding up the map to put it back.

"It's alright, I enjoy exploring now... Oh, shoot, words, hold on-"

Now, how the heck to communicate that part?

"Wait!" Lexi said quickly, eyes going wide. "No, the words were okay. I mean... I got that. I heard that."

A light laugh of disbelief. "What just happened?"

He blinked and turned to look at her in surprise, pointing at himself.

"Wait, you- you understand what I'm saying?? But I'm still speaking Fragglish! How is that?"

Lexi blinked as well a couple of times, still quite perplexed.

"I don't know, I just... It doesn't sound like a foreign language anymore, it's weird."
