You work all night, you work all day. You still can't keep those worry blues away

No matter how long it had been, this time of year was always difficult for Bridge. Even with all the blessings and good things in his life, the anniversary of his father's death always left him feeling a bit melancholy, though some days leading up to the day were better than others.

This particular day wasn't the worse he'd felt, but he still gone to take some time for himself, wandering around Duckburg on his own and letting himself get lost in the empty feeling as he walked with no destination in mind, which somehow brought him to the park.

"Oh! The garden owner. Yeah, Louie's told me he does a lot of exploring too.

"So he's your uncle, too?"

"Well, sort of. He actually adopted me after, uh...some things happened."

The mention of that suddenly reminded Bridge what day it was, and he ran a hand through his hair as he cleared his throat.

He noted that drastic change in demeanor, and stepped a little ahead so he could look around and up at him.

"Bridge...? Is everything okay?"

Glancing at Gobo, he chuckled a bit.

"Yeah, uh...mostly? I guess? It's uh...This time of year is...difficult."

[gobetween]

"Really? What happened this time of year? If you don't mind me asking, that is."

[takeittothebridge]

Hesitating for a moment, he sighed.

"Well, uh...a few years ago, around this time, my dad, uh...he...passed away."

[gobetween]

"Oh. Gosh, I'm sorry I pried, I.. didn't know."

[takeittothebridge]

He shook his head. "No, it's okay. It's just uh...it's still hard, y'know? Even after all this time."

[gobetween]

"Yeah, I get that... I guess that's why you were out walking, huh?"

[takeittothebridge]

He nodded. "Yeah. Just trying to clear my head."

[gobetween]

"Must be why that particular song I was singing drew you over, too." He looked back the way they'd come for a moment.

"You gonna be okay, today?..."

[takeittothebridge]

"Yeah, that'd probably be it."

Silent for a moment, eventually he nodded.

"Yeah, I should be okay. I just...gotta get through today."

[gobetween]

"You can do it." He lightly placed a hand on Bridge's arm. "I know you'll get through, and then you'll have tomorrow, and the day after that, and the day after that."

Glancing down at Gobo, he managed a small smile.

"Yeah...thanks."

[gobetween]

He smiled a bit himself on seeing that.

"You're welcome. I know it's not easy, losing someone you love, especially if it's a family member. But I know you'll be alright."

[takeittothebridge]

He chuckled a bit. "That's what Uncle Scrooge says too."

[gobetween]

He laughed softly. "Guess we've got a lot in common, then."

[takeittothebridge]

"Kinda yeah."

It was strangely comforting.

[gobetween]

"I might have to talk to him more, then. I really only spoke to him about the garden the first time, and he was there when Louie first caught me, but that's about it."

[takeittothebridge]

"It might be fun. I'm sure he'd be interested learning about you guys."

[gobetween]

He snickered some. "Well, I wouldn't mind showing him we're more than garden pests, that's for sure."

[takeittothebridge]

"Yeah, I heard about that. Is that really what people think about Fraggles?"

[gobetween]

"It is, and it's unfair too! We only take what we need, and what no one else will miss." Indignant huff. "According to what Scrooge told Louie, people will also pay money for Fraggles, but I've never heard of that happening."

"Pay money for Fraggles? For what?"

[gobetween]

"I don't know for sure, but I've heard someone else talk about it too so I doubt he's lying. He definitely said it wasn't anything he liked, though."
